Success Stories: Our Teamwork Helps an Indian Research Scientist Working in Lighting Research Obtain NIW Approval Quickly
Client’s Testimonial:
“NAILG team was very professional, experienced and efficient in preparing and filing of my NIW petition. It was very easy to work with them via the web portal. NAILG are very prompt in replying in any queries and offer sound advice. I am currently also working with them on my EB1A petition and am confident that will get approved too.”
On March 1st, 2023, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Research Scientist in the Field of Lighting Research (Approval Notice).
General Field: Lighting Research
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Research Scientist
Country of Origin: India
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: New York
Approval Notice Date: March 1st, 2023
Processing Time: 2 months, 3 days
Case Summary:
Winning a National Interest Waiver visa requires applicants to prove that their work is of interest to the U.S. and that the continuation of their work is necessary for the country. So when we at NAILG get NIW requests we make sure to work around this idea. And this is what we were able to do for an Indian research scientist working in the field of lighting research. Collecting the following information and weaving them into his petition was a step in that direction:
- We wrote that as an expert in the field with a Ph.D. in architectural sciences, he wanted to continue his research on designing and developing circadian health-promoting light therapies and regimes using mathematical models and empirical data.
- We found that his research is of great value because it promotes circadian health by spreading awareness of the negative impact that prolonged exposure to artificial light and insufficient exposure to daylight have on sleep.
- It also had broad implications for the United States as a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) found more than a third of Americans are getting an insufficient amount of sleep each night, based on the recommendation that at least 7 hours of sleep is healthy.
- It was also notable that due to its clear national importance, his research had been supported with funding from multiple United States federal institutions including the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the United States Army Research Office (ARO), the United States General Services Administration (GSA), and the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
- He had also completed at least 21 reviews to date and given that only the most highly esteemed researchers in the field are invited to evaluate the work of their peers, especially in notable venues, it is clear that he is seen as very knowledgeable in the field and an expert in topics related to his proposed endeavor.
- His research has also resulted in 17 peer-reviewed journal articles (9 of them first-authored) and they have been cited a total of 385 times according to Google Scholar, thereby demonstrating that these publications are widely recognized and relied upon in the field of lighting research.
- Additionally, his research has also been covered by major media, including Forbes.
- Finally, his 6 years of work in the field had been recognized by 2 separate researchers who understood and corroborated the value of his work in the field.
So, once the petition had been drafted and filed, we had to wait for only 2 months and 3 days before getting the approval from the USCIS. We are proud of having worked with him on this case and we wish him the best of luck in the future.
