Case Summary:
As an expert in the field of pathology, our Libyan National Interest Waiver client’s proposed endeavor was to work on the development of new methods to treat and diagnose complicated diseases such as cancer, COVID-19, and stroke. His research was of great value because it worked on improving the health outcomes of patients suffering from globally challenging diseases. For instance, stroke is one of the leading causes of death worldwide, accounting for approximately 11% of total deaths in 2019.
His proposed endeavor also has broad implications for the United States since out of the entire global population, the US has both the most cases of COVID-19 and the most deaths. His work has provided the field with a more thorough understanding of how COVID-19 impacts lung function, establishing a novel blueprint for researchers and clinicians to develop therapeutic targets specific to stages of the disease.
On the other hand, his research has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles, and 2 journal articles accepted for publication (1 of them first-authored). Not only has he successfully completed and published the results of his research in the field, but his research has also gone on to influence his peers. That is, his publications have been cited a total of 38 times.
So while preparing his petition, along with these details we added descriptions of three of his key projects as evidence of his contributions to and expertise in the field of pathology. We also included 4 letters of recommendation from experts who knew his work and recognized its value for the country. Our team was able to prove that his 6 years of research was and continues to be of great value for the U.S., winning him the NIW approval in just 5 months and 10 days. We are proud to have worked with him and we wish him the best of luck in future endeavors.
