Case Summary:
A Postdoctoral Scientist in the field of robotics from Lebanon approached us in October of 2023 to help him file an NIW (National Interest Waiver) petition on his behalf. Since NIW applicants and beneficiaries are required to have an “advanced degree” or “exceptional ability” in the sciences, we were able to confirm that our client is an expert in the field of robotics because he holds a Ph.D. in robotics engineering and has convincingly demonstrated that he seeks employment in an area of substantial intrinsic merit to the U.S. that will be national in scope.
We also discovered that he intends to pursue his research on creating intelligent and autonomous behavior for robotic systems in unstructured and dynamic environments to advance the design and application of autonomous logistics, robotic recycling, and robot learning. Thus, his research seemed pertinent to the development of robotic recycling technologies and the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.
After thoroughly considering our client’s credentials, we agreed to countersign the client-attorney agreement. We aimed at emphasizing the great importance of his research which addresses environmental sustainability and logistics optimization. We incorporated the following details in our customized petition package:
- It was noteworthy for us to mention the importance of his research work, which has also been granted funding by the National Science Foundation. This funding is reserved solely for research directed at advancing the national interest, including studies that “promote the progress of science, national health, prosperity and welfare, and secure national defense”.
- Besides, at the time of filing, his research has resulted in 3 peer-reviewed journal articles (2 of them first-authored) and 8 conference articles (5 of them first-authored), and these papers have been published in no fewer than 4 highly ranked peer-reviewed journals.
- Not only did he complete and publish the results of his research in the field, but his research has also influenced his fellow researchers. Thus, at the time of filing, his work has been cited a total of 52 times, proving the fact that his findings have been well-received by the field and, beyond that, his efforts have inspired fresh investigations in several areas of robotics.
- Due to his great knowledge in the field of robotics, he has been regularly invited to conduct peer reviews for elite journals in the field, and he has completed, at the time of filing, at least 25 peer reviews to date.
The aforementioned data confirms that our client is regarded as highly knowledgeable in his field of expertise and as an authority on subjects pertaining to his proposed endeavor. We are grateful to our client for selecting the North America Immigration Law Group to successfully represent him in his EB-2 NIW application before the USCIS. We hope he succeeds as he advances in his area of specialization.
