Success Stories: Thanks to Our Experts, a Project Scientist in Interactive Computer Systems Obtained NIW Confirmation Despite Delay
Client’s Testimonial:
“I greatly appreciate the support from Chen Immigration Law Associates, and I would highly recommend this law firm. The team is very professional and patient in addressing my questions and assisting me in applying for I-140.”
On April 8th, 2022, we received another EB-2 NIW (National Interest Waiver) approval for a Project Scientist in the Field of Interactive Computer Systems (Approval Notice).
General Field: Interactive Computer Systems
Position at the Time of Case Filing: Project Scientist
Country of Origin: Taiwan
State of Residence at the Time of Filing: Pennsylvania
Approval Notice Date: April 8th, 2022
Processing Time: 33 months, 25 days
Case Summary:
As an expert in the field of interactive computer systems, our NIW (National Interest Waiver) client from Taiwan proposes to continue his research on enhanced human-computer interaction (HCI). Although his work has diverse applications, its importance is especially notable through its direct relevance to monitoring and combating environmental factors, such as hazardous levels of air pollution.
The I-140 NIW category visa is a part of nonimmigrant visas under the EB2 category which requires the applicants to show that their work is valuable to the U.S.A. Our team makes this possible for clients who come to us at NAILG by collecting data from their certificates, transcripts, CVs, etc., and using them to compile a strong petition for them.
This is exactly what we did for our Taiwanese client. We collected the following data and personalized his petition:
- The client is one of the pioneers of this new approach, as well as in efforts directed at better assessing deforestation, water resources, refugee crises, and much more. Policymakers and actors are then able to use these new tools to better allocate limited resources to where they are most needed to address a wide range of issues facing the modern world.
- His work has resulted in 4 peer-reviewed conference articles (3 of them first-authored) which have been published in well-known journals of repute in his area of expertise.
- He has not only completed successful research in the field, but his work has also gone on to influence his peers and colleagues. His publications have been cited a total of 38 times according to Google Scholar.
- He has also already conducted at least 3 reviews, including reviews for international magazines and journals.
- Finally, he collected 6 letters of recommendation from experts in his field of which two had the following opinion of his work:
“The value of [the client’s] work in this area lies in its broad range of applications. His interactive system has made previously collected data more accessible and transparent and makes it easy for researchers to present meaningful narratives on a variety of topics. [The client’s] work has already been used to visualize issues including deforestation, refugee flows, urban growth, and air pollution. As the benefits of [the client’s] research make clear, he is a valuable figure that is pioneering interactive computer system advancements necessary for a variety of scientific projects.”
“[The client’s] research holds a great deal of value domestically, which is reflected in reports by federal government agencies. [The client] has focused on community citizen science (CCS), which typically includes the curation and visualization of multiple types of scientific data, using artificial intelligence (e.g., computer vision, machine learning) to facilitate knowledge development, and the evaluation of citizen attitudes. The significance and relevance of [client’s] contributions to these and other innovative efforts demonstrate the need for his continued work. [The client] is engaged in an extremely useful area of research that has benefitted and will continue to benefit the study and development of computer systems that bolster community knowledge and engagement to effect positive change in the community. Given that [the client] is an especially talented and accomplished individual in his field of study, his sustained research is beneficial to the United States.”
Thus, when his approval came through, despite the delay, our team was happy to have helped him the best we cloud. We thank him for his trust and patience and we wish him all the best in future endeavors.
